Pennsylvania Closes Summer With Profitable iGaming Month

Pennsylvania put a close on the summer with a profitable month of iGaming and sports betting.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported the Keystone State generated $510.16 million in gaming revenue, an increase of 11.6% compared with PA online casino revenue totals from August 2023.
Total tax revenue for gaming in the month was more than $215.04 million.
Slots Lead Way Yet Again in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania iGaming totaled $183,738,032 of revenue during August 2024 compared with $144,980,774 in August 2023, an increase of 26.73%. Internet slot games again led the way in the state, totaling $138.3 million in revenue. Table games chipped in $43.18 million while poker contributed just $2.2 million for the month.
Pennsylvania has three separate iGaming tax rates for each of its three games. Slot games are taxed at 54% of revenue totals, table games at 16%, and online poker also at 16%. For the month, Pennsylvania iGaming tax revenues totaled $81,953,405.

Total tax revenue for all forms of gaming in the state for August was $215,048,192.
Sports Betting Reports Strong August
Pennsylvania sports bettors flocked to their apps in August, closing a “slow” portion of the sports betting year as the state moves into the lucrative football season.
Handle for the month was $485,289,137, a 23.48% increase over the August 2023 total of $393,007,298. Sports betting revenue for the month totaled slightly over $30 million, a 36.21% increase from the August 2023 revenue total of $22.02 million.
